Berendina is a Sri Lankan social-development organization founded in 1982 by Dutch philanthropist Mrs. Berendina Borst, formalized as Berendina Foundation with support from Berendina Stichting (Netherlands). Berendina consists with companies as Berendina Micro Investment Company Limited (BMIC) and Berendina Development Services (Gte) Limited (BDS). BMIC is a licensed microfinance company operating in Sri Lanka, regulated by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka under the Microfinance Act No. 6 of 2016. BDS is a non-profit, rights-based development organization registered under the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007 in Sri Lanka and registered with the Sri Lanka NGO Secretariat.
