Great Place To Work® – Sri Lanka
Great Place To Work® uses the information in the Culture Brief™ to provide additional context to the data from your Trust Index™ survey. The Trust Index provides the data on the employee experience, while the Culture Brief™ provides context on your workforce and benefits. This information is also used to create your own profile on Great Place To Work®’s website if you’re Certified.
Please keep your answers concise and free from technical or complicated language.
Around survey time, you can start working on your Culture Brief™. Several organizations find it convenient to work on the Culture Brief™ while the Trust Index™ survey is live for 2 weeks. This allows you the time to collect the data you need for the answers. It’s important that your Culture Brief™ demographic responses reflect your organization demographics at the same time you distributed your survey.
The time it takes to complete the Culture Brief™ depends on whether you have facts about your organization, workforce demographics and benefit coverage easily accessible. If you do, it will take only a few hours.
We recommend that you submit your Culture Brief™ around the same time your survey is set to close or before to take advantage of earning the certifications as quickly as possible. You need to be Certified (to have completed the Trust Index™ and the Culture Brief™) by the Best Workplaces™ list deadline date to be eligible for the Best Workplaces™ lists.
You can mention that certain responses on the Culture Brief™ as confidential and Great Place To Work® will never share any confidential information. Marking information as confidential does not affect your score or eligibility for Certification. Leaving a section blank can impact eligibility for Certification or lists, so we always recommend that you fill everything out and mention anything you don’t want to be shared publicly as confidential.
It depends upon the list. For all the Best Workplaces™ lists, the Culture Brief™ is used to put your Trust Index™ results into context.
For example, what industry are you in? What is your employee population like? We take this into account so we can compare peers with peers, knowing survey trends vary based on context.
For a few of the Best Workplaces™ lists, we will also score certain questions — for example, the percentage of senior leaders who are women will affect your score on the Best Workplaces™ for Women list.
Your Culture Brief™ should reflect your organization at the time you distributed your survey. So, if you had completed the merger/acquisition at the time you were surveying and the acquired employees are legally part of your business, then they should be included in your survey and the Culture Brief™ should reflect the statistics of your combined organizations. It doesn’t matter if the merger/acquisition is very new – you should include those new employees just as you would include any newly hired employee.
Your Culture Brief™ responses (and employee survey) should be based on the country parent organization as well as all subsidiaries to you are to be considered for recognition together.
Choose the closest match so we can fairly compare you to industry peers and ensure you are considered for the appropriate industry list. Your industry impacts which lists you are eligible for. If you need support in selecting an industry, please contact customer success manager. Please note that only the key most industries with enough participation volume have lists produced for them.
You may skip any question that is not relevant to your organization that does not have a red flag/star. Please keep in mind that leaving questions blank decreases your overall competitiveness and list eligibility as additional information helps evaluators better understand your organization.
Employee counts and demographics should reflect the time period when you distributed your survey. Other fiscal or policy figures can reflect the most recent 12-month period that your organization has on record.
We encourage you to answer every question, as leaving questions blank will decrease your overall competitiveness and eligibility for the Best Workplaces™ Lists.
No, please respond to the question in the way that it is asked.
There is a section for your global operations where you can answer accordingly.
• You must include any person who is legally employed by your organization, paid directly by your organization, and is classified as one of the following at the time of survey launch.
• If a person is not legally employed by your organization, usually classified as one of the following at the time of survey launch, do not include them in your survey.
• Refer to below for more details on who you should survey.
Minorities are the number of employees commonly understood in your country to be under-represented minorities given their national, ethnic, racial, religious, or linguistic background. Respond based on the information you have.
Please report employees’ genders as they have reported them to you. In addition to male and female gender options, the Culture Brief™ (and Trust Index™) includes an option to identify the number of employees whose gender is “not listed” to be inclusive of non-binary gender identities.
The “100-word organization description” will be used verbatim on your Certification Profile, under the section “About the Organization”.
The question that asks you to “describe your organization’s primary business” will be used to help our evaluators to better understand what your organization makes, sells, or does and the kind of work your employees do day-to-day.

This question is asking for the percentage of dependents’ healthcare premium covered by your organization. It is not asking for the percentage of employees who utilize the dependents healthcare premium. If all employees’ dependents are not covered at the same rate, please cite the percentage that most employees’ dependents receive.
They will be published in your Certification Profile. Here are examples of our live Certification profiles.

All Certification-eligible surveys must reflect employee feedback from the entire entity, including the parent company, all subsidiaries, divisions, locations, departments, and job roles.
You must include any person who is legally employed by your company, paid directly by your company, and is classified as one of the following at the time of survey launch:
IMPORTANT: Failure to include any group of employees (whether on purpose or accidentally) or invite the required number of employees will result in disqualification from Certification and Best Workplaces™ list eligibility.
If a person is not legally employed by your organization, usually classified as one of the following at the time of survey launch, do not include them in your survey:
Employees located outside of applying country
We often get asked whether to include employees who reside outside the country for which you are applying for recognition.
If there are fewer than 10 employees located in a country that is not the applying country, you may invite those employees to participate in the applying country’s recognition-eligible survey.
If there are 10 or more employees located in any one country that is not the applying country, those employees may be considered for Certification and Best Workplaces Lists in that country. Therefore, these employees must either be excluded from the applying country’s recognition-eligible survey OR surveyed on the Accelerate partnership tier to ensure eligibility requirements are met for that country.
Why the threshold of 10 employees? If ten or more employees are based in one other country, there are enough employees to be creating a unique culture and employee experience. It is important to understand the experience of this group of employees outside of the applying country, and it is another opportunity to be recognized for creating a great workplace!
Our goal is to ensure your survey is an accurate assessment of your employee experience and company culture. Great Place To Work® is committed to maintaining a fair process for all organizations applying for Certification and Best Workplaces™ list recognition. We can only assess and recognize organizations accurately and fairly when everyone follows the same guidelines about which employees to survey and how many are invited.
