Earning the Great Place To Work® Certification™ is a milestone any organization should be proud of, but But for organizations  in Sri Lanka, where our workplace culture is deeply rooted in community, loyalty, and human connection, this badge represents much more than just another logo that can be bought to slap onto marketing materials.

It is a public validation by the current employees of an organization. The positive feedback of the majority must pass the global average threshold in order to earn this badge. No organization can pay and obtain it. Employees have the final and only say. It denotes that employees feel that the workplace has the fundamentals of being a great workplace. That they trust their leaders. That they find purpose, safety, enjoyment and pride in coming to work every day.

In a world where “employee experience” is becoming a currency in itself, this acknowledgement is proof that your people believe in the culture of your workplace, and that your workplace stands out.

But here is the thing: the badge alone does not tell the full story. What brings this recognition to life is how you share it, how you bring your employees into the celebration, and how you let the outside world see the culture you have worked so hard to build and sustain.

The badge itself is valid for a period of only 1 year as denoted by the timeline on the logo.  After it expires an organization must undergo the process again and earn re-validation through their employees once more. So, once earned, you should be maximizing its use to make an impact during the active period.

In this blog, we explore five creative, meaningful ways to showcase your Great Place To Work CertifiedTM status in a way that reflects your organization’s core valueproposition, energizes your people, and inspires trust among your stakeholders.

01. Create Moments That Begin at the Doorstep

Recognition should never feel distant or abstract. When someone walks into your office, whether they are a potential recruit, an existing client, or a partner, they should feel the pride you have in being Great Place To Work Certified™.

Think of your physical workspace as a canvas. The reception area, for instance, is a natural place to highlight your achievements. A well-placed digital display or a beautifully framed certificate is not just décor, it is a statement. Meeting rooms, too, can carry that pride. Something as simple as displaying the badge alongside your core values or employee photos can create a daily reminder of the culture you are nurturing.

But this experience does not have to begin only when someone enters your building. Imagine a candidate receiving their interview confirmation and seeing that your organization is proudly Great Place To Work Certified™. It immediately sets a tone; they are not just applying for any job, they are applying to be a part of something meaningful.

Onboarding new hires? Include the story of your badge in your welcome materials. Not just the badge, but the why. Why does being a great workplace matter to your leadership? What does it mean for the employee experience? This level of intention signals that you do not just say you value your people, you show it.

02. Amplify the Achievement in the Digital Space

As the world evolves and transforms into a more digitalized world, your digital presence is often the first point of contact for clients, job candidates, and the public. That is especially true in Sri Lanka’s fast-moving job market, where prospective employees often do their first impressions-check via your LinkedIn page or organization’s website.

This is why embedding your badge into your digital ecosystem is vital. Start with the basics, your email signature. It may sound simplebut think about how many emails your team sends out every day, both internally and externally. A small banner with your Great Place To Work Certified™ badge serves as a consistent, subtle reminder of who you are and what you stand for.

Your website, importantly the careers section, should wear the badge proudly. We recommend that you do more than post the logo You canshare a brief paragraph or even a short video from your CEO or employees, explaining what it took to earn the recognition, why you value great workplace culture and how your people made it possible.

On social media, do not stop at the one-time announcement post. Celebrate your people through a series of campaigns. Highlight your behind-the-scenes culture with photos of real moments: teams celebrating wins, employees engaged in volunteer work, or everyday camaraderie that makes your workplace special. Remember to tag #GPTWCertified and even consider creating your own campaign hashtag to track and showcase your journey.

And here is a local insight: do not underestimate the reach of platforms like Instagram and TikTok among younger talent in Sri Lanka. Short, engaging content that reflects your workplace vibe can go a long way in attracting fresh talent with the right mindset and energy.

03. Turn Culture into Something You Can Touch and Feel

Culture, at its heart, is something intangible. But symbols matter. They turn invisible values into something people can see, touch, and remember.

When you give your employees a t-shirt or mug that proudly displays the Great Place To Work Certified™ badge, you are not just handing them merchandise. You are giving them a tangible representation of belonging to something greater. Something they can carry with them, literally.

Custom gear like caps, tote bags, water bottles, or even lanyards can become cherished keepsakes, especially when distributed during a celebration or team gathering. But this effort does not have to stop at gifts. Think about your onboarding packs. When a new hire receives a notebook that says “Welcome to a Great Workplace,” it immediately sets a tone of pride and inclusion.

Office branding can also play a subtle but powerful role. From wall art featuring employee quotes to decals on desks or meeting rooms, small touches create daily affirmations of a culture that values people. In Sri Lanka’s work culture, where emotional connection plays a significant role in retention and loyalty, these symbols go a long way in reinforcing identity and pride.

04. Use the Badge to Tell a Bigger Story

Your certification is news. And good news deserves to be shared, strategically.

This is where your PR and marketing efforts can shine. A press release announcing your Great Place To Work CertifiedTM status not only celebrates your team’s achievement but also sets your organization apart from the rest in the country/ industry. Platforms like  physical or digital news sites and magazines are great places to share your story with the business community.

Incorporate the badge into your ongoing marketing efforts. Whether it is a new product launch, a CSR initiative, or your presence at an industry event, weaving in your Great Place To Work Certified™ status reinforces that you are not just delivering results, you are doing it sustainably, with integrity, and with a team that is thriving.

Globally, clients, partners, and stakeholders want to work and be associated with  organizations that treat their people well. Use your pitch decks, annual reports, and even your client newsletters to subtly (or proudly) include your Great Place To Work Certified™ badge. You will find that it enhances your brand’s credibility and builds an image of professionalism grounded in people-first values.

The key is authenticity. This is not about boasting. It is about being proud of the kind of workplace you have built and letting that story inspire others.

05. Make Your Employees the Heroes of the Story

At the heart of every great workplace is its people. Your badge would not exist without them. Therefore, it makes sense that they should be the stars of the show.

Do not let the celebration be confined to leadership teams or external posts. Bring the energy in-house. Organize a culture day to celebrate your achievement together, make it uniquely Sri Lankan.

But go beyond just the temporary party hype. Capture and broadcast employee testimonials, real, unscripted reflections on why they enjoy working at your organization. These stories are gold. They humanize your culture, build internal pride, and make future talent want to be part of it.

Consider running a short video series, where each week a different team member shares a “proud moment” or what the certification means to them. These stories do not have to be polished. In fact, the more real they are, the better they will resonate.

Encourage your CEO or leadership to send a heartfelt internal message acknowledging the recognition and crediting the employees for making it possible. That kind of leadership transparency goes a long way in deepening trust and morale.

But it just does not end there.

The badge is a milestone. But it is also a starting point.

Creating a great workplace is not a one-time project, it is a continuous commitment. Earning the Great Place To Work Certified™ status sets a high expectation. It speaks to your employees, your industry, and your future hires that you are listening. You may not be perfect, but you are continuously working towards being better. It shows that their experience matters to you. That you are serious about creating a place where people are respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.

And let’s be honest, our workplaces are constantly evolving. Employee expectations and experiences shift. New challenges arise. The badge is not a sign that your work is done, it is proof that you are doing the work, and that you are committed to doing even more.

So do not let your Great Place To Work CertificationTM be a forgotten achievement. Celebrate it loudly. Share it boldly. And most importantly, let it be a living reflection of the culture your people have helped build and continue living that legacy every day
